Abstract
The University Course Timetabling Problem is about assigning a group of entities or resources, such as classes, people, equipment, among others, to a limited number of time resources, fulfilling somepredefined constraints. Given that each university has specific conditions and constraints, it is not possibleto use a general solution. Because of the above, it is needed to carry out an analysis of the situation in eachorganization. What is sought in this research is to analyze solutions provided by open source software for theTimetabling Problem. The analysis involves to use real data from time and space allocation from past semestersin Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (UTFSM) and compare them to automatized solutions providedby software, in order to assess if it can improve the current system used in UTFSM.Keywords.
