Abstract
Due to the high opportunity cost of the SAG mills of Escondida Mining it is desired a more efficient way of inspecting the grinding coating and wear. For that purpose, a vibration analysis of the stator is required. Such analysis will be used to generate a operation baseline in which all changes will be measured from. The present document is a technical analysis of vibration of the stator of the grinding mill SAG4 at the cooper concentrator Laguna Seca. Its goal is to develop a predictive strategy of maintenance at the concentrate operations of Minera Escondida. An operational study is performed at the present document for determinate the main parameters that influence mostly the regular operations at the work site. A Fourier spectral analysis is performed on the signal from the stator of the SAG mill 4. From that analysis the vibration spectrum will be determined. That spectrum will be analyzed in order to determinate if any frequency could be associated to wear levels on the inner linings of the mill. After a maintenance plan will be developed using the data from the spectrum. The main hypothesis is to determine the wear in the internal lining of the mill based on the data collected from the change of the frequencies as the mass is subjected to wear. The main findings have determined that it was not possible due to the conditions of steady speed of operation. It was possible to determine the wear in the inner linings by the change of the amplitude of the oscillation instead of the frequency. This parameter is used to predict the conditions of wear at the mill. This analysis is dedicated to the grinding portion of the concentrate operations. The analysis is developed for the SAG mill number 4 of the copper concentrator of Minera Escondida.
