Abstract
This paper analyzes the main factors that affect productivity under a look of the country and company, seeking to identify the relationship between these variables and the size of the firms. Considering the above, this paper seeks to review and analyze: The situation of productivity in Latin America and in particular, the reality of four countries; the impact of technology on productivity at the country level and by size of enterprise; the relationship between a company exporting experience and its productivity; the relationship between the size of a company and the variables associated with the size and productivity, along with background on the evolution of productivity in mining for Chile. After analyzing the variable, we conclude that those that directly affect the productivity of a company are: access to qualified personnel and training, incorporating innovations and new technologies, ability to eliminate inefficiencies or optimize processes, export capacity and access to finance. As a general conclusion, it may indicate that the highest productivity levels are achieved by large companies or those exporters, because they have more efficient processes as a result that they have qualified personnel and incorporate well managed technologies achieving lower costs. This allows them to adapt more easily to changes in the labor situation, minimizing its impact.
