This thesis presents an ecient mathematical method for evaluating the blocking probability (call blocking) of OBS-WDM (optical burst switching - wavelength division multiplexing) optical networks with full wavelength conversion. The model used permits that every route associated to each connection has a dierent trac load. The mathematical solution of the model is ecient, in terms of that the corresponding software permits to obtain the blocking probability of all users (connections) in less than a second, for arbitrary mesh network topologies. Other desirable characteristic of the proposed method is that permits to get very close results to those obtained by simulation, but obtained at orders of magnitude faster. On the practical examples that are presented, it is shown that the heterogeneity of the trac loads of a network aects significantly on the blocking probability of the network connections, and for this reason, this fact should be considered on the design and operation of these networks.
