Thesis PROPUESTA DE MEJORA DE LA OPERACIÓN DE UN ALMACÉN DE AEROLÍNEA PARA MANTENIMIENTO DE AERONAVES(Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, 2016) BATARCE DEL SOLAR, NICOLE CRISTINA; BATARCE DEL SOLAR, NICOLE CRISTINA; NUÑEZ SEGOVIA, JAIME HUMBERTO; Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria UTFSM DEPARTAMENTO DE INGENIERÍA MECÁNICA; SUAREZ VILLARROEL, RODRIGO FERNANDOThe LATAM Airlines Group’s Technical Warehouse, a leading airline in Latin America and one of the groups the world's largest airline, has been faced to continuous and significant changes in recent years. Changes that are accompanied by the merger between LAN and TAM and its subsidiaries, facing new challenges around the current demand. It is considered the largest Technical Warehouse with the major number of units in Latin America, which supplies a fleet of not less than 328 major aircraft. Because of this, it is important that the services delivered daily to its client, Maintenance activities, are services where quality and accuracy in time are guaranteed. This work presented, is realized to improve the Warehouse's operation, beginning with the description of current processes and by diagnosing the potential opportunities for improvement detected, which are based on clear evidence. Quality tools are applied to help identify and segregate problems from causes. Having identified the main problems and their causes, with the participation and opinion of workers and the results of the diagnosis, the main causes are prioritized and categorized. Then the improvement proposals are generated, which includes the Action to be made, Person in Charge, Deadline and Indicators. The Pilot Application is developed based on a Continuous Improvement project, using the PDCA cycle in the cause: Poor spatial distribution and inefficient flow at Reception and Dispatch zones. In the Pacification the proposals are generated, which are approved by the Head of Procurement and Logistics and are in dealing process. These proposals can bring a lot of benefits for the customer and warehouse personnel; however, the success achieved will depend on its proper implementation, controls, checks and corrections made continuously and periodically. The cycle presented applies to all kinds of proposal, with an organized and clearly structured methodology.
