Thesis OPTIMIZACIÓN TÉCNICO ECONÓMICO DE UNA CORREA OVERLAND DE LARGA DISTANCIA EN EMPRESA MINERA DE COBRE(Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, 2011) ANDREWS PEREIRA, BRYAN PHILIPE; ANDREWS PEREIRA, BRYAN PHILIPE; Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria UTFSM INGENIERÍA MECÁNICA; SARIEGO PASTEN, PEDRO MARCO ANTONIOAntofagasta Minerals S.A. is one of the greater mining companies of the world, subsidiary of Antofagasta Plc and, at the moment, owner of 4 productive Copper divisions, located in northern Chile, among them Miner Hope, in construction stage; in order to achieve this, the firm counts with the support of a contractor company called Aker Solutions, which is in charge of the design and evaluation of equipment, among other duties. The project contemplates two areas of work: The Plant area, referres to the sector in where the design of the transporting belt Overland is centered, which is in charge of transporting the mineral from the crushing area to stockpile and where also takes place the processing and concentration of the mineral that will be sent to the port area, located in the neighborhoods of Michilla. The Port area referres to the sector where water will be captured and pumped from the sea to the plant and where the concentrated of the plant will be received, via concentraduct. The design of the conveyor system contemplates calculations through CEMA and FAÇO systems, and through a software called BELTSTAT, which are tools to accomplish calculations about the belt and main components, like idlers, spacing of idlers, life utility of idlers, engine power, analysis of different possibilities regarding to operation depending on the number of engines, in case of failure.
