Abstract
El Laboratorio de Manufactura Avanzada, perteneciente al Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica, se ubica en el Campus San Joaquín de la Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María. Al tener un enfoque estilo MakerSpace tanto los alumnos como la comunidad pueden acceder a máquinas, herramientas, servicios y un espacio de aprendizaje para el desarrollo de actividades y prototipos con fines académicos, de investigación, personales o industriales a baja escala. Desde que se fundó el laboratorio se ha estado trabajando sin un funcionamiento estandarizado. Las personas cumplen sus funciones como les han enseñado de boca en boca. Por otra parte, la distribución espacial tampoco está definida de manera particular, el mobiliario y las máquinas están ubicadas de manera aleatoria. El presente trabajo se realizó con el objetivo de mejorar estas condiciones, acomodar el lugar para instalar una nueva máquina de sinterización y acondicionar para poder realizar clases prácticas de prototipado para las carreras de Ingeniería Civil Mecánica e Ingeniería en Diseño de Productos. Esto a través de la aplicación de herramientas de mejora continua, siguiendo los pasos de la metodología DMAIC.
The Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory, belonging to the Mechanical Engineering Department, is located on the San Joaquín Campus of the Federico Santa María Technical University. By having a MakerSpace-style approach, students and the community can access a learning space with machines, tools, services for the development of activities and prototypes for academic, research, personal or small scale industrial purposes. Since its founding, the lab has been functioning without a standardized operation, resulting in people carrying out their functions as they have been taught by word of mouth. Furthermore, the spatial distribution is not defined in a particular way either, the furniture and machines are randomly located. The present work aims to improve these conditions, accommodating the workplace to install a new sintering machine and allowing the appropriate conditions to carry out the Mechanical Engineering and Product Design Engineering carreer's practical prototyping classes. All of this, through the application of continuous improvement tools, following the DMAIC methodology steps.
