Thesis DISEÑO DE UN SISTEMA DE REGULACIÓN AUTOMÁTICA DE GENERACIÓN (AGC) PARA EL CONTROL SECUNDARIO DE FRECUENCIA (CSF) DEL SING, DESARROLLADO E IMPLEMENTADO EN DIGSILENT(2015-11) HEISIG LORCA, FEDERICO JULIO; BARRUETO GUZMAN, ALDO (PROFESOR(A) GUÍA); GACITÚA, LEONARDO (PROFESOR(A) GUÍA); GÁLVEZ, RICARDO (PROFESOR(A)CORREFERENTE); Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María. Departamento de Ingeniería EléctricaCurrently, secondary frequency control in SING is performed manually. Yet, this strategy is unable to meet the requirements of the Chilean technical standard. That is why the new NTSyCS requires that from 2017 this regulation is made by AGC. This technology, unlike the manual control, allows simultaneously that more than one unit is responsible for restoring the frequency at nominal value, and in turn determines faster the necessary corrections for this task. Due to the aforementioned, the implementation of this technology promises to improve current performance. However, there are many questions to be respond prior to incorporation of the AGC in the SING. This work aims to establish recommendations to guide for the real implementation of the AGC in this system. To achieve the aim, this type of control was developed and implemented as a DigSilent model of SING. This considers the selection of units involved in the task, determining the power required to restore the system frequency and methodology for the distribution of that power among these units. The latter takes into consideration the load, generation cost and reservations of each generator. Both, the units determined to participate in the CSF and the methodology developed for the AGC, were designed by the requirements of the technical standard and the previous research on this technology in the SING. The performance of the developed control was contrasted with the manual control in technical and economic terms. Sensitivities were also assessed in the design of AGC and speed governors, allowing to draw conclusions on these issues.
