The Energy Efficiency Labeling process for sanitary water heaters was born in 2013 in the Ministry of Energy, with Decree 64 and with the objective of providing adequate and sufficient information to the end user. Decree 64, Approves regulations that establish the procedure for the elaboration of the technical specifications of the EE labels.Subsequently, during 2014 Resolution 72 exempts, approves the technical specifications of the label of energy efficiency for sanitary water heaters. Then, in 2016, Exempt Resolution 12244 indicates the modification of the Certification Protocol for these appliances and this new certification protocol is validated during the same 2016. However, the tests indicated in the protocols are based on the NCh 1938; 2005, which, in turn, has as its norm the UNE EN 26; 1997.Currently, the European standard UNE EN 26; 1997, is in the period of revision, reason why a final draft is expected at the end of 2017. This review directly affects NCh1938, ie the Certification Protocols. It is expected that by the end of 2017 in Chile, the label of energy efficiency for residential sanitary water heaters is approved and every appliance that is marketed in our country, have it, as it is mandatory.
