    INTEGRACIÓN DE SENSORES EN UN AUTO ELÉCTRICO, PRIMER PASO EN EL PROYECTO DE IMPLEMENTACIÓN DE UN VEHÍCULO AUTÓNOMO

    At the Federico Santa María Technical University, the Advanced Center for Electrical and Electronic Engineering (AC3E) research center is developing a project to implement sensors in a commercial vehicle, to create a platform that will serve as a basis for future research in the field. Autonomous mobility area, evaluate new developments of both software and hardware for autonomous vehicles and thus contribute with new knowledge to help accelerate the future implementation of this technology.This paper describes the work done in the AC3E, whose main objective was to design and develop components for the integration of LIDAR (Velodyne VLP-16) and GPS (Navcom LAND-PAK) sensors into a commercial electric car. The specific objectives of this project were:• Generate a module in which the LIDAR and GPS sensors are integrated into the car• Minimize the visual impact of sensors on the car.• Obtain optimum operability of the sensors once assembled.• Route sensor cables and controllers to the back of the car.As a testing vehicle, a Renault Twizy was used, one or two-seater electric vehicle that offers the facility of being recharged in any 220 V and 10 household socket. This was the ceiling to integrate 2 necessary supports, one for each sensor. The work is done with conceptual designs from paper, through 3D models to their manufacture and implementation. For the manufacture of prototypes was used the process of additive manufacturing, technique of manufacturing three-dimensional objects from a digital model, better known as 3D printing.The support of the GPS is called Model G6 and consists of a rod inclined to 60 ° of the horizontal and divided in 3 pieces; A base, a pole and a connection for the GPS. The cables pass through the inside of the pole and out through a hole only 35 mm from the GPS. The anchorage of this model to the roof is by means of 4 Parker M5 bolts. The base of the G6 model is positioned in the center of the ceiling at 23 cm from the rear.The LIDAR sensor holder, called Model L3, was based on an existing Soligor WT-3230 camera mount. This support keeps the LIDAR firmly in place avoiding that it receives external vibrations, but also giving the possibility to position it in different angles when necessary.
