Abstract
La metodología FORMAT tiene un enfoque de predicción tecnológica capaz de satisfacer la necesidad de las industrias manufactureras apoyando los procesos de toma de decisiones en la planificación de estrategias corporativas de I+D. La metodología fue desarrollada dentro del consorcio FORMAT, reuniendo a socios tanto de la industria como académicos de Marie-Curie Actions financiado por 7th Framework Programme - IAPP PEOPLE.Hasta el momento de la formulación de este informe, los casos de estudio a los que se les ha aplicado la metodología han sido de autoría de miembros del mismo consorcio; no existen aplicaciones desarrolladas por gente externa al proyecto FORMAT, es por esta razón que se decidió aplicar esta metodología para el caso de la minería cuprífera en Chile con el fin de evaluar qué tan efectiva es la herramienta FORMAT, tanto en el ámbito académico como industrial.En el presente documento se desarrollará la aplicación de la metodología con un caso de estudio en la industria cuprífera en Chile. Se responderá cada una de las etapas y sub-etapas exigidas por la metodología, de las cuales se generarán entregables que permitirán justificar la decisión final. A su vez, a medida que se realizan las respuestas, se evaluará la fluidez con la que se logra argumentar cada etapa, para finalmente en las conclusiones, determinar los pros y los contras de la metodología FORMAT.
The methodology FORMAT has an approach for technological forecasting capable of satisfying the need of the manufacturing industries supporting the decision-making processes in planning corporate strategies for R&D. The methodology has been developed within the FORMAT consortium, gathering partners from both industry and academia in a Marie-Curie EU funded project of the 7th Framework Programme - IAPP PEOPLE.So far to writing this report, the case studies to which the methodology has been applied have been made by members of the same consortium; there are no applications developed by people external to the FORMAT project, it is for this reason that it was decided to apply this methodology to the case of copper mining in Chile in order to evaluate how effective the FORMAT tool is, both in the academic and industrial fields.In this paper, the methodology applied to the case study of the copper industry in Chile will be developed. Each of the stages and sub-stages required by the methodology will be answered, from which will be generated out puts that will justify the final decision. At the same time, as the answers are made, the fluidity with which each stage will be argued will be evaluated, to finally in the conclusions, determine the pros and cons of the FORMAT methodology.
