Abstract
A grandes profundidades
In underground mining, the main transport system is one that requires the highest levels of investment. In this context, the research focuses on two of the most commonly used main transport systems at present, corresponding to: hoisting system and conveyor belts. Both systems are used for high productivity mining and great depths. A comparison is made between both systems through a technical-economic evaluation where investment and operating costs are estimated throughout life of the mine, then the total costs are compared to determine which of these systems is the most convenient in economic terms. This comparative analysis is carried out for different scenarios of new mining projects, in which the depth and/or the rate of production in each of them is varied, considering a total of 20 scenarios. With the technical-economic evaluation collected from each scenario, it is possible to design a selection abacus for one of the main transportation systems mentioned above, which is expressed in a graphic form. At great depths (greater than 550 meters) the most economically convenient transport alternative is the hoisting system over the conveyor belts, while the conveyor belt will be the most convenient option at low depths (less than 350 meters). The development of this methodology allows to have a support element in profile engineering studies for the selection process of the main transport system for a mining project
