Abstract
After 105 years of productive life, the mine “El Teniente” is currently experiencing the depletion of the sectors that are currently in operation, which requires it to move towards a new deepening phase, with the aim of extending its operation and ensuring compliance with the production goals programmed by the Corporation. Within this framework, in 2011, the execution of the Project "Nuevo Nivel Mina" was approved, whose objective is to exploit the mineral reserves located 300 meters deeper than the current levels of exploitation of the mine "El Teniente", granting operational continuity to the division. After difficulties presented during the construction of the Project, the Project "Nuevo Nivel Mina" was born, which considers in the first instance the exploitation of only a sector of the "Nuevo Nivel Mina" called the "Andes Norte", accompanied by two other new mines. Once the exploitation of the mine "Andes Norte" is consolidated, in 2032 a second stage of expansion begins to the rest of the mines to complete the reserves of the original project, which will allow the production levels of the "División El Teniente" to be maintained for the next 50 years. In the underground construction of the excavation works of the Project "Nuevo Nivel Mina Andes Norte", there are constant operational losses and waste of resources, which cannot be controlled, since only a localized operational visualization is obtained and little information is available about what happens in operations during the development of the shift, and any deviation presented during the shift is detected at the end of this, without having the possibility of correcting it at the same time avoiding any waste. In this framework, the Vicepresidencia de Proyectos de Codelco Chile is developing a "Sistema de Monitoreo en Línea" (SML) of the excavation works of the underground construction of the project "Nuevo Nivel Mina Andes Norte", with the objective of increasing productivity, optimizing the use of resources and improve security levels. In accordance with the above, it is that in this work the basic requirements of the SML have been established regarding the key information that must be captured, processed and displayed in the operations control room. For this, the problems and causes of operational losses with the highest frequency and impact on the development of the Project were first identified, focused on the search for improvement opportunities that could be covered by the SML, such as the improvement of planning, communication and coordination of the activities carried out during the shift, as well as improving the use of available resources and the availability of equipment. From the identified improvement opportunities, different solutions were delivered based on the information that the SML could provide, where it was finally determined that to obtain this information it is necessary to monitor through the SML the different fronts, people and work teams involved in the advance cycle
