MODELACIÓN COMPUTACIONAL DE LA TRANSFERENCIA DE CALOR EN UN INVERSOR SOLAR
Abstract
Photovoltaic solar energy has had great growth and development in recent years, exponentially growing installed capacity in Chile. Within a photovoltaic installation, the solar inverter performs a very important role, it is responsible for converting the electricity generated from direct current to alternating current. Currently, most failures registered in a photovoltaic installation are concentrated in inverters. To understand the reasons for these failures, a data collection was made on the operation and maintenance of the solar inverters. The information was collected from two solar installations: Solar plant Quilapilun and Soalr plant Finis Terrae. As a result, it was obtained that the main failure mode that affects the inverters are temperature rise failures, which have their origin in the problems of heat transfer inside the inverter, mainly related to the electronic board (PCB) of the investors. To study the heat transfer inside the inverter, computational simulations of fluid dynamics were performed. The inverter geometry is based on commercial models, from which the operating parameters were obtained. The simulation revealed that a considerable improvement opportunity is to increase the speed with which the flow arrives on the electronic components, with special emphasis on PCBs.
