Abstract
La presente memoria tiene como objetivo estudiar la factibilidad técnica respecto a la implementación de tecnología de almacenamiento y generación energética a través de aire comprimido (CAES) en Chile, utilizando tuberías instaladas para el transporte y almacenamiento de gas natural. Se presentan diversas alternativas para proponer cual es la configuración idónea en términos de eficiencia energética, cuales son los factores críticos influyentes, y las consideraciones que se deben tener en cuenta para determinar si la tecnología es factible técnicamente o no. La problemática se aborda realizando una revisión de la situación actual en el mundo respecto a las tecnologías de almacenamiento energético y configuraciones CAES propuestas. Además se analiza la situación en Chile de los gasoductos nacionales e internacionales instalados en el país, la tendencia de generación energética durante los últimos años y el marco legal asociado al mercado energético.
The objective of this report is to study the technical feasibility regarding the implementation of energy storage and generation technology through compressed air (CAES) in Chile, using pipes installed for the transport and storage of natural gas. Several alternatives are presented to propose which is the ideal configuration in terms of energy efficiency, which are the influential critical factors, and the considerations that must be taken into account to determine whether the technology is technically feasible or not. The problem is addressed by reviewing the current situation in the world regarding energy storage technologies and proposed CAES configurations. The situation in Chile is also analyzed with respect to the national and international gas pipelines installed in the country, the trends of energy generation in recent years and the legal framework associated with the energy market.
