At present, the use of Non-Conventional Renewable Energies (NCREs) isa reality worldwide, and in particular in Chile. The country's energy matrixhas varied its distribution reaching arround 20% of it in NCRE, and wherephotovoltaic solar energy has gained broad ground in recent years thanks to theclimatic characteristics of our region. In the country, photovoltaic solar energy is present in large-scale generationfarms and small distributed generation plants, however, the interest for installationsand generation at the household level is increasing and therefore it ismore important to improve the micro-investor topologies. The typical solution for these needs corresponds to the classic micro-inverter,which is able to connect a single panel, or a small number of panels, to theelectrical grid controlling the magnitude and phase of the energy generated byperforming a single MPPT algorithm for the whole set of photovoltaic cells. In the present thesis a submodular micro-inverter system is proposed, withthe purpose of improving the performance of the converter in conditions ofpartial shading in the photovoltaic panels. Among the improvements expectedare the quality of the injected energy and the obtaining of power from thegenerating units. To achieve the above, a technique under study is to performsubmodular converters where the junction box of the panels is removed andan individual DC-DC converter is connected for each segment of the panel (3segments per panel). In particular, in this work, it is proposed to use flybackconverters to perform the MPPT (Maximun Power Point Tracker) stage in eachsegment and the necessary voltage rise for the connection to the grid through aconverter DC-AC . In the stage DC-AC a variation is also proposed, since theclassic bridge H for this stage will not be used, if not taking advantage of theindependence of the 3 segments of the panel it is proposed to use a cascaded Hbridge converter. In order to establish the controllers of each stage, the converters and the grid to which the complete system will be connected are modeled, having independentcontrol systems for the MPPT's and for the control of the currentinjected into the grid.In order to validate the proposed topology, simulations are performed underdifferent radiation conditions in a panel, having dynamic and stationary partialshading tests. Then we proceed to experimentally validate the system bydesigning and implementing the converter to obtain experimental results of thethesis.eng
