Abstract
The cutting process is the base of the productive chain in the metal-mechanic industry. This is faithfully replicated in productive chain at the Kupfer Hnos’ distribution center, where, if there were to be any variability in the cutting times, the final product wouldn’t match the client’s expectations which would impact directly the company’s image and its demand in the future. In order to mitigate the variability produced by the diferent factors that aects the cutting line, one of the many goals of this work it is to design a proposal for a new productive model for the CNC plasma cutting machine using the Lean Management philosophy with simple and low cost tools. This process starts with an assessment of the current state of the chain of processes and risk measures, so as to determinate which are the processing times and there fore reveal the bottle necks within the chain of processes. Be sides, as a by product, improvements insecurity for workers and machines were developed. Also, the processes was standardized applying procedures according to the diferent components of the productive chain which required improvement, according to Lean Management philosophy. This process culminates with the creation of visual management tools as part of the pilot plan based on the Lean Management philosophy. This work had many fruits, it achieved an increase of the added value in the cutting line of 4.2% and 5.7% with a decrease of times of 15.4% and 7.4% in the sub processof material charge and cut, cut and download of the material respectively. It was also possible to control the production variability which started at a 15.79% at the beginning and descended to 3.71% at the end.
