REHABILITACIÓN DE LA EX ESTACIÓN Y HOGAR FERROVIARIO DE PICHILEMU

Abstract

Pichilemu, ciudad costera de la Región de O’Higgins, posee y una Estaciónde Ferrocarriles inactiva, la cual fue declarada monumento nacionalen 1994 y reacondicinada para fines turísticos en 1999. El inmuebletiene un amplio valor en la memoria colectiva de la ciudad y un rolimportante en la historia urbana. Por lo tanto se trabajrá en la puestaen valor mediante la reconstitución histórica, tanto del edificio comosu entorno, las transformaciones que se han manifestado en el tiempoy se identificarán las oportunidades que hoy se presentan para su intervención y, de este modo, reactivar el entorno urbano.Durante la década de los 30, hasta fines de los años 80, lel sector de laEstación de Ferrocarriles de Pichilemu, era la pricincipal vía de accesoa la ciudad de la población residente y visitante de este exclusivo balneario,el cual figuraba en la época como un centro de encuentrosocial en torno a la Laguna Petrel.Con el paso de los años, el tren dejó de transitar hasta la Estación dePichilemu, debido a que era un medio poco rentable, frente a los microbusesque comenzaron a llegar. Consecuencia de esto, el frentemarítimo y cara visible de la ciudad fue perdiendo gradualmente suprotagonismo, hasta quedar en un estado de total abandono, así también la Laguna Petrel y el humedal sufrieron un grave deterioro ambiental producto de la contaminación por aguas grises, lo cual fue subsanado en el 2010 con la instalación de la Planta de Tratamiento de Aguas Servidas.Finalmente y considerando que la actividad turística es el principal ingreso económico de la ciudad, se hace inminente el mejoramiento del acceso a la ciudad y la provisión de nuevos equipamientos públicos que permitan acoger actividades asociadas al turismo, los cualessean un aporte a la ciudad y articulen nuevos usos destinados a la recreacióny al esparcimiento, en el borde de la Laguna Petrel.

Pichilemu is a coastal town in the O’Higgins Region, Chile. It has an inactiverailroad station, wich it was declared a national monument in1994 and it was reconditioned for tourist purposes in 1999. The propertyhas a large value in the collective memory of the city and it has an importantrole in urban history. Therefore, we will work on the valorizationof this building by means of the historical reconstitution of the edificeand its surroundings, as well as, the transformations that have manifested over the time and also identify the opportunities that are presentedtoday for its intervention and, in this way, to reactivate the urban environment.During the 1930s until the end of the 1980s, the Pichilemu Railway Stationsector was the main access route to the city of the resident peopleand visitors of this exclusive watering place, which it used to work as acenter of social encounter around the Petrel Lagoon.Over the years, the train stopped to transit to the Pichilemu Station, becauseit was an unprofitable means, compared to the microbuses thatthey started arriving to the town. Consequently, the maritime front andvisible face of the city gradually lost its protagonism, until to be completelyneglected, so the Laguna Petrel and the wetland suffered a seriousenvironmental deterioration caused by pollution by greywater, which itwas corrected in 2010 by the installation of the Wastewater TreatmentPlant.Finally, considering that tourism is the main economic income of thecity, it is imminent to improve the access to the city and the acquisitionof new public equipments to accomplish activities associated with tourism,which are a contribution to the city and articulate new uses for recreationand leisure on the edge of the Petrel Lagoon.
