The main objective of the present work is to study the soiling effect on Photovoltaic devices, using Infrared Thermography as technique of PV inspection to quantify the Energy yield of two different Photovoltaic Systems: PV1 System (two identical Polycrystalline Silicon Modules, 100 [W]) and PV2 System (three identical Monocrystalline Silicon Modules, 100 [W],which are connected in parallel). For the PV1 System, the experimental process included the comparison between a clean PV module versus a soiled PV module after 45 days of outdoor exposure. To carry out this test, a series of experimental measurements were conducted for each module separately, where the main variables (Isc, Voc, Current, Voltage and Power output) were measured, obtaining the Characteristic Curves for each module, the Maximum Power output and Efficiency for several Irradiance conditions. Also, a thermographic analysis was performed during the experiments, this analysis had the objective of determining the temperature of the photovoltaic cells and test the PV panels used. The monocrystalline PV system undergone similar experimental measurements, however, in this case, the same PV system was used to compare the dirt by using the following method. First, soiled panels were measured after 51 days of outdoor exposure and then, the panels were cleaned to make the remaining experimental measurements. The experimental values of Efficiency and Energy yield for both PV Systems, were compared to the theoretical values obtained through the application of a simple Mathematical Model to achieve the objective of quantifying the soiling phenomenon losses by correcting the experimental results regarding the influence of Irradiance and Cell Temperature for each measurement series.According to the results obtained, it was concluded that the Soiling Phenomenon on the Coastal Valparaiso Region, had negative effects on the energy yield and the efficiency of the studied Photovoltaic Systems, which validates the Infrared Thermography as a powerful technique for analysis of the Soiling Effect.eng
